Tree Fertilizing | Tree Care Programs for Austin and Central Texas

tree fertilizing for Austin, Texas

The main thing that sets Austin Tree Experts apart from our competition is our unique approach to tree health care management. We have a regimented program that includes a few timely treatments over the course of a year combined with regular inspections. Most tree companies will tell you what they think you need and then leave it up to you to call when you see a problem or need a treatment. At Austin Tree Experts we know you probably aren't able to identify early signs of tree stress and that you may get busy and forget to call in when it's time for a treatment. That's why we take the initiative to set up a regimen that puts us on your property looking at your trees when they need it.

does and doesn't include   •   our schedule   •   what to expect   •   health vs. growth   •   our products   •   organic options

I like to describe our program by comparing trees to grass. Grass is in a constant state of growth; that's why you have to cut it once a week. You can put fertilizer on grass and get virtually the same results at any given time: greener grass and faster growth. Trees are not the same. Trees go through a series of growth and development stages throughout a year. During the spring trees are focusing on foliage growth. All trees except conifers must produce a whole new set of leaves. There is some foliage growth throughout the year, but percentage wise, most of it happens in early spring. During the main part of the growing season the trees aren't really growing much at all. This is mostly a time of energy production. Trees are building up their sugar bank account. As late summer and fall approach all of the sugars produced in the growing season make their way down the trunk and begin to reach the root system. Sixty to seventy percent of a trees root growth takes place in the fall.

Depending on what season it is, the treatment you apply is going to affect what the tree is doing at that given time. Timing the appropriate treatment to the right time of year plays a critical role in realizing noticeable results from a tree health care management program.
