Keith Brown

Keith is the owner and founding arborist of Austin Tree Experts. He's a Board Certified Master Arborist, a Certified Tree Worker, and is Texas Oak Wilt Certified. He started working with trees in high school dragging brush for a pruning crew. In the twenty years since then he has worked just about every job in the industry. He also has an interest in software and website development and handles both for Austin Tree Experts. Keith has been extensively involved with ISA throughout his career; he's the current past president of the Texas chapter and ran the Texas Tree Climbing Competition for a number of years. When he has free time he tries to spend it with his beautiful wife, also an entrepreneur and owner of Spruce Upholstery. He also gardens and is into website design and software development.

Daniel Priest

Daniel is our primary salesperson and diagnostician. He also helps with technician training and the Tree Health Program. He is an an ISA Certified Arborist, a licensed Commercial Pesticide Applicator, Licensed Irrigator, and is Texas Oak Wilt Certified. He studied English and philosophy in college and has been trying to make up for it ever since. Daniel has worked with trees in central Texas since 2007 as a climber, IPM technician, and nursery worker, and has been with Austin Tree Experts since 2011. He serves as a test proctor for ISA. He lives in San Marcos with his wife Fanny and two young sons, Silas (2 years old) and Cash (newborn). In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family, gardening, and writing poetry.

Keith Babberney

Keith serves as our Quality Control Arborist. He is responsible for post-pruning inspections on all tree work as well as tree crew training. Keith is an ISA Certified Arborist, Municipal Specialist and Certified Tree Worker. He is also Texas Oak Wilt Certified. He's worked as an arborist and educator in central Texas since 1992. He has volunteered with the ISA in a variety of positions over the years and currently serves on the Texas Tree Worker Education Committee. From 2005 through 2010 Keith served on the City of Austin's Urban Forestry Board and was voted Chair of the board in 2007. In his free time he enjoys hiking in the local parks and greenbelts with his dogs, gardening, and solving crossword puzzles.

Tara Hamilton

Tara oversees our Tree Health Program and manages our team of technicians. Born and raised in the Piney Wood of East Texas, she attended Stephen F. Austin University and graduated in 2002 with a BS in Botany. She is an ISA Certified Arborist and is Texas Oak Wilt Certified. She has worked all over Texas and the United States helping sick trees. She loves living and working in a city such as Austin that takes pride in its parks and natural areas. In her spare time she makes hats and crochets.

James Gainer

James has a long background in the construction industry. Prior to working for Austin Tree Experts and becoming an arborist, James owned and operated a site prep company. His background and understanding of construction site antics and various construction techniques make him the perfect man to oversee tree protection services on construction sites. James' job is to supervise our construction site services and serve as a watchdog to make sure proper tree protection is maintained on the sites we are contracted to oversee.

Evan Williams

In less than one year of joining our team, Mike obtained his arborist certification (he had some related prior experience) and quickly entrenched himself in our line up. Mike is our most versatile arborist and technician who can fill in for anyone that happens to miss a day of work or when a given project needs an extra pair of hands. He also serves as equipment operator for brush recycling and forestry mowing operations. Mike is one of our most well-rounded, hands-on arborists.

The minimum requirements for employment are a valid Texas driver's license, a high school diploma or GED, and a passion for trees. Preferred qualifications include: experience in the tree industry, bilingual proficiency, CDL, ISA certification, TDA Commercial Pesticide Applicator, TCEQ Licensed Irrigator or Irrigation Tech, Registered Surveyor or a college degree in forestry or a related field.
